Hi all :)
Today we travelled first thing to Andys parents house as that was where we would be working today. We also drove another intern (who would be working with us today) and two of his sons over as they were going to London for a couple of days with their grandparents.
Not alot happened today, just sat on my laptop for the day and plugging away at this bat project! Researching into this new bat thats been discovered in the UK and so was added to our UK species list meaning that our bat species has now risen from 16 to 17 and makes up a 3rd of the UK's total mammal species population! It was originally from Greece and so is named after a Greek princess who was transformed into a bat after refusing to worship the god Dionysus. And get this right... its body is the size of the end of your thumb! Most bats are quite small but I think this is one of the smallest ones. Just started researching the importance of bats which is what the article in the A Rocha magazine is mainly going to be about (and to see how important churchs are to the survival of some species!) Exciting stuff really.
Had a laugh with Andy and the other intern throughout the day which was nice. I'm quite tired at the moment so I'm constantly in one of those 'laugh at anything' moods... haha!
Anyway, hope you found that interesting! Going to an Abbey tomorrow in Dorchester (quite a drive!), who are invoolved in a different environmental project. There are a couple of other interns there that I'll be able to talk to about things. Should be good - this weeks going so quickly!
